Earth Friendly AI, Protecting Privacy of Children Highlighted in IEEE Whitepaper

The IEEE Standards Association has released a report calling for engineers to consider the impact their work, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, will have on climate change, children, and society.  The whitepaper highlights the need for policy makers to adopt goals and social metrics, and for technologists to develop standards for “utilizing emerging technologies in a way that prioritizes people and planet over power and profits.”

Entitled “Measuring What Matters in the Era of Global Warming and the Age of Algorithmic Processes”, the report is available on-line at:  https://standards.ieee.org/content/dam/ieee-standards/standards/web/documents/other/ec-measuring-what-matters.pdf.
