April 26 Webinar On IEEE’s Global Public Policy Activities and Processes

Dr. Gordon Day, Chair of IEEE’s Global Public Policy Committee (GPPC), delivered a webinar briefing for IEEE Technical Activities volunteer leaders on IEEE’s Global Public Policy activities and the new IEEE policies and processes that govern public policy activity by IEEE’s technical societies, councils and other TA organizations.   The webinar was held on 26 April 2018.  A recorded version is available for viewing on the TA Operations website.

In 2013, the IEEE Board made global policy activity a strategic priority and formed the Global Public Policy Committee to advise the Board and oversee the release of public policy position statements, whitepapers and communications by the various IEEE organizational units (OUs).  IEEE Policy 15 (External Communications on Public Policy) governs this activity, and is applicable to the IEEE technical societies, councils and other groups with an interest in public policy activity.

More information is also available on the IEEE’s Global Public Policy website, where you can find news of important policy activities, a repository of all current IEEE and OU position statements organized by source and topic, links to IEEE policy entities and contacts, a library of governing policies and forms, and a host of background resources.  Included in these resources is an instructional video series on “Advancing Technology by Advising Governments,” which covers IEEE’s public policy processes and governing policies in greater detail, along with useful “how-to” information.
