New IEEE Position Endorses Universal Access to the Internet

InternetThe IEEE Board of Directors approved a new position statement on 19 June 2016 endorsing the goal of universal access to the internet and supporting the call for national initiatives and international collaborations designed to expand access to the billions of people in both developed and developing countries around the world.  The statement calls upon the world-wide community of engineers, scientists, industry leaders, policy experts and others to apply their knowledge and skills to address both the access challenge and associated issues of security, safety, trust, privacy, governance, participation, fairness and prosperity.
