IEEE Fellow Makes Case for Engineering Engagement With Policy-Making


In an op-ed for Open Access Government (17 Nov. 2022), IEEE Fellow Nicholas Jennings, chair of the Engineering Policy Centre Committee at the Royal Academy of Engineering, made a case for why engineering policy should be at the heart of policymaking and urged the UK government to establish a post of Chief Engineering Advisor.  According to Jennings, “Policymakers have much they can learn from engineers about applying systems thinking to address interconnected issues. It’s paramount that the voice of the engineering community becomes an increasingly valued part of policy discussions.”
